Week 6

1. Read the following refresher on the camera iso, Aperture and shutter speed.


 







2. Conduct an experiment with fast and slow shutter speeds.
Capture a moving subject at a shutter speed of 1/60 or slower
Capture the same moving subject at a speed of 1/1000 or quicker.

If your camera dosn't have a manual setting or the ability to change the shutter speed. Then explore the sports setting on your camera set on and then off.

3. Night time photography is a great way of looking at the world through your camera.


After a demonstration from your teacher on shutter speed, aperture, ISO and flash settings for your camera
conduct a camera shoot a night time.

You could find light sources to capture; such as fire, house light, street lights or car lights.
You could capture and expose compositions from the dark.
Or using slow shutter speeds move light sources or objects in the camera view while the camera is taking the shot to capture movement or blurring.

Capture at least thirty shots and choose the best three for your blog.

Week 5 - Capture a digital image/ Edit a digital image

1. Upload your photos from the macro photography exercise.
Select the best three.
Optimise them in photoshop.
Upload them to your blog.
Comment upon them.

2. Follow the demonstration from your teacher covering the clone tool as well as fixing and retouching your photos.

Fix the following images.
Post the completed exercises to your blog.

Week 4 - Capture a digital image/ Edit a digital image

1. Photo Exercise 3 - Using the macro setting on your camera.
  
Go out and use your macro setting on your camera to capture different objects or compositions.

Think about composition but for this assignment concentrate on the rule of thirds and leading lines.

Take at least 30 shots, choose the best three, optimise them in Adobe Photoshop, save them as TIFFs (format) and present them next week.

2. Listen to a demonstration on the optimising images, the first five steps and uploading images from the camera to the computer.

Optimise your selected photos using the first five steps in Photoshop.

Optimise or correct the images using Adobe Photoshop and the five steps process of
Levels
Curves
Brightness/Contrast
Hue/ Saturation
Blur/ Sharpen
save two copies of each to your folder. One in TIFF format & one in JPEG format.



3. Post the images to your blog and label and comment upon them.

Possible critique content.

In detail, describe the image.
Comment upon the images composition.
Where was the image taken?
What camera setting did you use?
Do you like the image? Explain why or why not?
What would you do to improve upon the image?

This exercise covers
Select all/ copy and paste/ edit and transform commands
Navigating and ordering multiple layers on a page.
Changing layer attributes such as opacity and mode.
Flattening layers and saving.


2. Repeat the exercise with your own images.

Week 3 - Capture a digital image/ Edit a digital image


1. Watch the Genius of photography episode.

2. Listen to a demonstration on the optimising images, the first five steps and uploading images from the camera to the computer.

3. Upload, select and organise your images from your last photo assignment.

Take a photo of yourself.

You will need

3 final selected photos of yourself.

Make sure they are in separate folders from your photo shoot.

Make sure you can show them to the class in a slideshow format.

Week 2 Desktop Publishing

1. Follow a demonstration from your teacher on Text attributes, placement and clarity


2. Create a poster that includes both image and text placement.


3. It needs to be A4 at 300dpi and contain the following information.
